Pheasants Forever Reacts to President-Elect Obama's Climate Change Remarks

Nov-19-2008 - We were impressed by President-Elect Obama's leadership in addressing global climate change at yesterday's Bi-Partisan Governors Climate Summit. In particular, we are encouraged by his remarks to invest in clean energy, and would advise that a comprehensive plan also include the necessary funding to mitigate the impact on wildlife and lead to the addition of wildlife habitat acres to sequester carbon from our atmosphere . America's hunters and anglers have long been conservation leaders, and we look forward to working with our new President and the new Congress to address this very serious issue. Minnesota Votes YES, Passes Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment

Nov-05-2008 - It's an exciting day for Pheasants Forever and the State of Minnesota as voters yesterday passed The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment. Over 1.6 million Minnesotans, or 56 percent, voted YES to positively impact the future of the outdoors in the state. Pheasants Forever joined a coalition of 350 conservation, sportsmen, environmental and arts groups in supporting the Amendment. The measure will raise the state sales tax by three-eights of one percent - from 6.5 to 6.875 percent - beginning July 1, 2009, and will generate an estimated $300 million a year in today's dollars, or around $11 billion over the next 25 years. ...more

MN: Vote YES this November 4th

Oct-10-2008 - Minnesota's pheasant hunting season opens this Saturday, October 11th. While the prospects for this season are good, the outlook for future seasons – because of wildlife habitat losses - is murky. That's why Pheasants Forever strongly encourages Minnesota pheasant hunters and other voters to vote YES for The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment on the November 4th ballot. Funding for wildlife habitat remains near historic lows, and over the next 25 years, over 1 million acres of farmland, wooded lands and other natural areas will be lost as Minnesota continues growing faster than any other state in the Midwest. Voting YES will ensure $100 million for Minnesota's Outdoor Heritage Fund, $100 million for the Clean Water Fund, $59 million for the Cultural Heritage Fund and $43 Million for the Parks and Trails Fund - all annually. Choosing not to vote on this amendment when you go to the polls will result in a vote of NO. The result of the November 4th voting will drastically impact Minnesota and Minnesotans far into the future. ...more

Sep-24-2008 - Pheasants Forever (PF) and Quail Forever (QF), members of the No Child Left Inside Coalition, applaud the U.S. House of Representatives for its recent passage of the No Child Left Inside Act of 2008. The No Child Left Inside Act of 2008 creates new funding for training teachers in outdoor education, expands environmental education programs and helps states to create programs to ensure that U.S. graduates are environmentally literate. ...more
